Recent reports indicate that Arsenal is intensifying its interest in Girona’s left-back, Miguel Gutierrez.

The 22-year-old defender, who made his Real Madrid debut in 2021, has been on Arsenal’s radar since then. In the past few weeks, the Gunners have dispatched scouts to closely observe Gutierrez, who is currently under contract with Girona until 2027.

Born in 2001, Gutierrez joined Girona in 2022 for a fee of four million euros after progressing through Real Madrid’s youth program.

Arsenal’s interest in the left-back has heightened, leading to scouting missions amid the ongoing season. While Girona has secured Gutierrez’s services until 2027, there are considerations that a significant deal in the January transfer window might alter their stance.

Girona’s determination to retain Gutierrez until the summer could be swayed by a substantial offer, potentially prompting them to reconsider.

Arsenal’s pursuit of a new left-back intensified after Nuno Tavares went on loan to Real Sociedad, and Oleksandr Zinchenko became the sole assured option in that position. Despite Tavares’s impressive loan spell at Olympique de Marseille, Arsenal has sought defensive reinforcements.

Scouts are particularly interested in Gutierrez due to his stellar performances, contributing significantly to Girona’s unexpected rise to the top of La Liga.

The 22-year-old left-back has featured in 12 games across various competitions, showcasing versatility by excelling both offensively and defensively. His impact is evident in the 46 appearances he has made for Girona, earning admiration from Arsenal.

Gutierrez’s status as one of the premier reverse full-backs in Europe aligns with Mikel Arteta’s tactical vision, emphasizing flexibility between attack and defense.

His multifaceted skill set makes him a valuable asset to Arsenal, attracting keen interest from scouts monitoring his progress closely. Girona’s decision regarding a potential January departure for Gutierrez could prove decisive in shaping the outcome of a prospective move to Arsenal.
