After the conclusion of Euro 2024, Premier League clubs are reportedly contemplating the appointment of England manager Gareth Southgate.
While rumors suggest that Euro 2024 might mark Southgate’s departure from his role, he has led the Three Lions since 2016.
The Daily Mail indicates that the FA is preparing for Southgate’s potential exit, with Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola considered a “dream” replacement.
Southgate’s contract expires in December 2024, and he hasn’t ruled out leaving the national team.
The FA, however, expresses contentment with his performance and desires him to continue until after the 2026 World Cup, according to BBC Sport.
Despite this, Southgate is also being considered as a potential replacement for Roy Hodgson at Crystal Palace, who faces increasing pressure due to the team’s recent poor performance.
The Sun reports that Southgate’s potential move to Palace is viewed as a “long-shot” option, with the club’s chairman, Steve Parish, reportedly favoring former Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper or Lille head coach Paulo Fonseca.
Kieran McKenna of Ipswich, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Graham Potter, and former Fulham manager Scott Parker are also linked to the Selhurst Park position.
Hodgson aims to prevent Crystal Palace from relegation in the current Premier League campaign, with the team currently five points above the bottom three before a crucial game against Chelsea.
