Chelsea’s recent slump in form, with three consecutive losses leaving them at the bottom of the table, is a cause for concern as they prepare to face Liverpool at Wembley.

Despite significant investment in transfer fees since the new owner took control in May, Chelsea finds themselves mid-table, having conceded four goals in each of their last two league games.

According to The Standard, manager Mauricio Pochettino is facing mounting pressure and criticism. However, he retains the support of the Chelsea administration and has no plans for a mid-season managerial change. Pochettino is set to lead the team in the upcoming Carabao Cup final on February 25.

The Mail reports Chelsea’s concerns about potentially breaching Premier League spending rules if they were to dismiss Pochettino. With only 18 months left on his contract, his dismissal could cost the club more than £10 million in additional squad costs, as well as impact profit and stability clauses.

Looking ahead, Chelsea faces tough fixtures against Manchester City and Aston Villa before the Carabao Cup final. The club may need to navigate these challenges while also addressing concerns about their financial situation and player contracts.

There is anticipation of a wave of player sales during the summer transfer window to balance the books, as Chelsea faces criticism for their extravagant spending.

Some players reportedly regret signing long contracts with the club, with concerns raised about the realization of the promised project they were sold on, as reported by The Athletic.
