The recent rumors linking Erling Haaland to Real Madrid have sparked curiosity about how those close to him perceive the situation.

Reports from SPORT suggested that Real Madrid, under Carlo Ancelotti’s management, aims to secure a deal for Haaland, alongside Kylian Mbappe, by 2025.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola had already extended Haaland’s contract until 2025, eliminating the £150 million release clause that could have been activated last summer.

Despite rumors of Real Madrid’s interest, City remained confident in retaining the Norwegian forward in January. However, speculation intensified last month, fueling talks of Haaland potentially joining Real Madrid, especially given his fondness for vacationing in Spain and owning a home in Marbella.

According to The Athletic, those close to Haaland reportedly dismissed the Real Madrid rumors, with Haaland allegedly laughing them off.

Additionally, it was suggested that the transfer fee for Haaland could be below £200 million due to the progressive decrease of release options in his contract, complicating ongoing contract negotiations with Manchester City.

The impending arrival of Kylian Mbappe at Real Madrid may influence Haaland’s decision regarding his contract extension beyond 2027.

While Paris Saint-Germain is not expected to pursue Haaland, focusing instead on Victor Osimhen, Bayern Munich and Juventus are unlikely to pursue him due to the length of his current deal with Manchester City and his reported lack of interest in joining either club.

Real Madrid’s pursuit of Haaland faces challenges, including potential salary expectations from existing stars like Vinicius Jr. and Jude Bellingham.

Vinicius currently earns €12 million annually, significantly less than Haaland’s reported salary at Manchester City. Real Madrid aims to build a team with promising young talent, minimizing salary expenditures.

Although Florentino Perez may view the present as an opportune moment to sign Haaland, Real Madrid is unlikely to pursue the deal immediately.

Instead, the club’s focus remains on acquiring one superstar per summer. Haaland may be inclined to extend his contract with Manchester City if offered a salary increase and revised buy-out options.
