Chelsea is actively considering potential candidates to replace Mauricio Pochettino as manager, with Jose Mourinho emerging as a top contender, according to reports from walexsports.com.

Following Chelsea’s recent 4-2 defeat to Wolves, their tenth loss in the Premier League this season, Pochettino’s position has come under scrutiny.

The team’s current 11th position in the table, coupled with closer proximity to the relegation zone than the top four, has heightened concerns among fans and pundits alike.

During the match against Wolves, Chelsea’s players were booed off the pitch by fans, who also chanted the names of club owner Roman Abramovich and former manager Jose Mourinho. This added pressure on Pochettino, who subsequently apologized to the fans for the team’s performance.

Amidst speculations about Pochettino’s future, BonusCodeBets has released odds on potential successors. Girona’s head coach, Michel Sanchez, is currently the frontrunner, followed by Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi.

However, Mourinho’s availability after being sacked by Roma last month makes him a strong contender, with odds of 4/1 to succeed Pochettino.

Xabi Alonso, currently leading Bayer Leverkusen’s Bundesliga title chase, is another potential option for Chelsea, although his availability may be a challenge. Zinedine Zidane, who left Real Madrid in May 2021, and Xavi, set to leave Barcelona at the end of the season, are also among the candidates.

Additionally, Sporting manager Ruben Amorim, who was recruited by Chelsea last year, is considered as a potential candidate with odds of 10/1.

The decision on Pochettino’s successor will be crucial for Chelsea’s future, as they aim to regain momentum and compete at the highest level in domestic and European competitions.
