Arsenal legend Ian Wright was filled with delight as Martin Odegaard elegantly found the back of the net in the recent Premier League match against Luton Town.
Under the guidance of manager Mikel Arteta, Arsenal made significant changes to their lineup, bringing in five new players and giving a break to regulars like Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka, and Jakub Kiwior.
Although Arsenal initially struggled to find their attacking rhythm, they eventually broke the deadlock in the 24th minute, courtesy of Odegaard.
The pivotal moment came when Emile Smith Rowe intercepted the ball from midfielder Pelly Ruddock Mpanzu and provided a crucial pass to Odegaard.
Displaying great teamwork, Odegaard exchanged quick passes with Kai Havertz before calmly slotting the ball into the bottom left corner of the net.
Wright expressed his joy during halftime, describing Odegaard’s goal as a fantastic finish, especially considering the trajectory of the pass.
In an interview with Premier League productions, Wright praised Arsenal’s proactive approach, stating that Odegaard’s goal was a result of their relentless pressure.
Arsenal secured a 2-0 victory over Luton Town, with Smith Rowe’s pass leading to Daiki Hashioka’s own goal, further highlighting Arsenal’s dominance.
While Smith Rowe was named the man of the match for his significant contributions, Odegaard’s performance against Luton Town was also impressive.
The Norwegian midfielder made 77 touches and completed 58 out of 65 passes with precision. He also created two key chances and executed accurate long balls.
Odegaard’s tally for the season now stands at an impressive 17 goal involvements, with 13 of them coming in top-flight competitions.
His contributions have notably increased since February, accounting for 41 percent of his total goal involvements.
