Julian Alvarez replaced Haaland in the 82nd minute after the latter netted four goals for City in their convincing victory.
Upon taking his place on the bench, the 23-year-old, currently leading the Premier League golden boot race, voiced his frustration, insisting he should have remained on the field.
With twenty-five goals in the Premier League this season, Haaland tops the scoring charts. Chelsea’s Cole Palmer and Newcastle’s Alexander Isak both have 20 goals each, while Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins follows closely with 19.
In addition to converting two penalties, Haaland contributed to City’s 3-0 lead over Wolves. Despite Wolves’ Hwang Hee-Chan finding the net, Haaland swiftly responded with another goal, before Alvarez added a fifth.
City manager Pep Guardiola revealed that Haaland was displeased with the rough treatment he received from Wolves players.
Guardiola remarked, as quoted by City’s official website, “There were several instances where he was pulled back when chasing long balls into the channels, but the referees deemed it not a foul.”
“I can understand his frustration when someone grabs your shoulder.”
