Jose Mourinho is considering his next steps after being dismissed as Roma’s manager on Tuesday.
Following a poor run of results that left Roma ninth in Serie A, Mourinho resigned from the Stadio Olimpico, ending his two and a half-year tenure.
Although he had hoped to remain at Roma until his contract expired in the summer, 90min reports that he currently has no plans and that the decision to leave was influenced significantly by the club.
Mourinho is expected to receive numerous offers.
Recent rumors have linked him to Premier League clubs Newcastle United and Chelsea, but 90min states that any such moves are unlikely at this stage.
Chelsea’s owners wish to give current head coach Mauricio Pochettino more time despite a disappointing start to the season.
They plan to reassess him in the summer, as he faces criticism from supporters and the club risks losing to Middlesbrough in the Carabao Cup semifinals.
Newcastle also intends to continue supporting manager Eddie Howe, who is under pressure due to a lengthy injury list this season.
Mourinho has previously expressed interest in managing in Saudi Arabia.
If he remains unemployed by the summer, 90min anticipates he will receive an offer from the Saudi Pro League.
Al Hilal had approached him with a £30 million annual offer, but given their current success, they are unlikely to replace their manager soon.
However, both Al Ahli and Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr might consider Mourinho for managerial roles, having previously shown interest.
Mourinho might also consider international management opportunities, which are expected to arise after Euro 2024 and the Copa America, leading up to the 2026 World Cup.
He is reportedly open to managing England if Gareth Southgate steps down after the Euros.
