BREAKING NEWS: Arsenal finalizes Dani Olmo transfer and agrees on personal terms with Calafiori, Zubimedi, Osimhen, and Nico Williams

Arsenal’s transfer activity has been relatively quiet this summer, with only the signing of David Raya, a long-anticipated move, being completed.

As the transfer window approaches its fourth week, the squad remains largely unchanged, with no new additions in defense, midfield, or attack.

However, the club is planning to revamp parts of the team, with potential exits expected in various positions.

Despite the slow start, there is no immediate cause for concern at Arsenal, as they are close to securing Bologna defender Riccardo Calafiori.

While there are questions about his fit and the necessity of this deal, it signifies some movement in the market.

Additionally, two players on the periphery of Mikel Arteta’s squad, Emile Smith Rowe and Reiss Nelson, are being considered for exits, with several clubs showing interest in them.

The sales of these players would represent “pure profit” on the financial accounts, significantly improving Arsenal’s financial position and helping them comply with profitability and sustainability rules (PSRs).

Eddie Nketiah is also attracting interest from Crystal Palace and Fulham, and Arsenal is open to all three departing, provided there is ample cover in the squad.

While none of these deals are close to completion, it suggests that alongside bringing in Calafiori,

Arsenal’s preference is to trim the squad rather than pursue additional high-profile signings.

This approach may indicate a shift in focus towards developing young players from the academy and streamlining the squad to meet financial sustainability rules.

The potential exits of Smith Rowe, Nelson, and Nketiah would also free up space in the squad for younger players to emerge, aligning with Arteta’s philosophy of developing talent from within.

Although the transfer window has been slow for Arsenal, the club’s approach may be more strategic than it seems, prioritizing sustainability and youth development over high-profile signings.
