BREAKING NEWS: Predicted Manchester United lineup vs Twente – Ten Hag set to field a dangerous squad for the Europa League clash.

Manchester United is gearing up to start their 2024-25 Europa League journey with a home game against Dutch club FC Twente at Old Trafford on Wednesday evening. United, who are riding the wave of a three-match unbeaten run, which includes a recent goalless draw against Crystal Palace in the Premier League, will be looking to maintain their positive form as they switch focus to European competition.

The match against Palace highlighted their defensive solidity, but with the Europa League offering new challenges, United will be eager to seize the opportunity for success on this front.

FC Twente, the 2009-10 Eredivisie champions, pose a significant challenge for Manchester United. However, United’s squad depth and overall experience give them a clear advantage heading into this fixture. Adding to the excitement is the potential return of some key players from injury, which could bolster Erik ten Hag’s options as he finalizes his team selection for this critical encounter.

Among the injured players is Leny Yoro, who is currently sidelined due to a fractured metatarsal sustained during a pre-season game against Arsenal. His recovery is being closely monitored, with hopes that he might be fit to return in December for the rematch against Arsenal.

Another key player on the injury list is Tyrell Malacia, who has been out since last season following a severe knee injury that required multiple surgeries. Despite his lengthy recovery, Malacia has shown encouraging signs of progress by recently taking part in training sessions.

Meanwhile, Luke Shaw remains a major doubt for the Twente game as he continues to recover from a calf injury, though there’s a possibility he could make a timely return to strengthen United’s defense. Similarly, Victor Lindelof, who has been dealing with a toe injury, has resumed training and is another player whose availability for the match is still uncertain, but he could make the squad.

Fortunately for Manchester United, no players are facing suspensions, giving Erik ten Hag full flexibility when it comes to selecting his squad. If Shaw and Lindelof are cleared to play, it would significantly reinforce United’s defensive setup, possibly prompting Ten Hag to go with a well-balanced lineup that blends seasoned players with emerging talents.

A 4-3-2-1 formation might be ideal, offering both defensive stability and attacking options, which could be key to overcoming Twente’s challenge. Even if Malacia is not fit enough to play, his participation in training might give the squad a psychological boost as they prepare for the match.

FC Twente’s return to the Europa League after a ten-year absence will be a major moment for the Dutch side, but they will need to perform at their peak to compete with Manchester United’s speed and technical prowess. With the home advantage and an enthusiastic crowd behind them at Old Trafford, United will be determined to start their European campaign on a high note and demonstrate why they are considered one of the favorites to go deep into the tournament.
