Edu Gasper, Arsenal’s Sporting Director, has recently disclosed that a former striker has expressed a desire to return to the club by the upcoming January transfer window, confident that he can outshine Gabriel Jesus in terms of contributions to the team.
One such player is Mika Biereth, a 20-year-old Danish striker who is currently playing for Austrian club Sturm Graz.
Biereth left Arsenal last summer after struggling to make an impression at the North London club.
Despite his difficulties, he now hopes to make his way back to Arsenal in the future.
Biereth originally joined Arsenal from Fulham in 2021 but found it hard to break into Mikel Arteta’s first team.
This led to several loan spells, first at RKC Waalwijk, then at Motherwell, and finally at Sturm Graz.
At these clubs, Biereth gained valuable experience and showcased his potential, which eventually earned him a permanent move to the Austrian club.
In a recent interview with TV2, Biereth reflected on his time at Sturm Graz and his aspirations.
He shared his satisfaction with his current situation, saying, “Things are going well at Sturm Graz. I have nothing to complain about right now.
I play every week at a good level, and now we’re also competing in the Champions League, where I’m still waiting for my first goal.”
This shows that while he is focused on his current role, the young striker remains ambitious.
However, Biereth did not shy away from expressing his desire to eventually return to Arsenal.
He noted, “If I keep playing well and scoring goals, hopefully a change can come, but right now I’m focused on Sturm and on doing well here.
A return to Arsenal would be fantastic, but it’s not something I’m focusing on at the moment.”
This reveals that although a potential return to the Gunners is on his mind, his immediate priority is to perform well for Sturm Graz.
Whether Arsenal would be interested in Biereth’s return remains unclear.
Mikel Arteta has previously indicated that he is satisfied with his current options in attack, which include Gabriel Jesus, Kai Havertz, and Leandro Trossard.
This contentment was one of the reasons Arsenal chose not to pursue a new striker during the recent summer transfer window.
Despite this, Arsenal continues to be linked with top forwards, such as Alexander Isak from Newcastle United.
There have also been rumors regarding Jesus’s future at the club, with some questioning his fitness and consistency as a starter, which could potentially open the door for new attacking options in the future.
Though Arsenal is not actively seeking a striker at this moment, should they require reinforcements down the line,
Biereth’s strong performances at Sturm Graz could earn him a second chance at the Emirates Stadium.
If he continues his upward trajectory, he may one day realize his dream of playing for Arsenal again.
