BREAKING NEWS on Greenwood’s potential return to Manchester United to support the team

Following his transfer from Manchester United to Marseille this past summer, Mason Greenwood remains enthusiastic about the possibility of reigniting his international career with England, as reported by *The Sun*. The forward hopes for an opportunity to speak with Thomas Tuchel, England’s recently appointed manager, as he still dreams of representing his country despite the controversies that marked his departure from Old Trafford. Greenwood plans to consult with both the Football Association (FA) and Tuchel to understand their views before making any decisions about his international future.

Tuchel took over England’s managerial role after Gareth Southgate’s resignation following Euro 2024, with his contract officially starting in early 2025 for an 18-month tenure. Greenwood, who earned his first and only England cap in 2020, is eager to secure additional appearances for his national team.

After facing serious legal issues in 2022, he initially resumed his professional career on loan at Getafe, a move that eventually paved the way to his current position with Marseille. Greenwood has since demonstrated strong form, scoring five goals in seven Ligue 1 games, showing he still possesses the skills to compete at a high level after his time away from the pitch.

According to an insider who spoke with *The Sun*, “Mason is aware that his chances with England are limited, but he wants clarity on his standing with the FA and Tuchel. His aim is to compete at the top level, with the World Cup as his ideal goal. If England isn’t an option, he may consider representing Jamaica in 2026.”

However, a return to the England squad seems improbable. Both Southgate and interim coach Lee Carsley showed reluctance to include Greenwood in the squad, and it’s likely that Tuchel and the FA will adopt a similar stance to avoid any potential public backlash that might arise from his selection.

Additionally, Greenwood faces tough competition within England’s talent-packed attacking lineup. Since his last appearance in 2020, several players, including Bukayo Saka, Anthony Gordon, Cole Palmer, Phil Foden, and Jarrod Bowen, have excelled, making it even harder for Greenwood to regain his spot on the national team.

This depth of talent, combined with the controversy surrounding Greenwood’s off-field issues, further reduces his chances of returning to England’s squad.

For these reasons, representing Jamaica could realistically be Greenwood’s most promising route to the World Cup, where he could play a vital role on an international stage if his England aspirations do not materialize.
