Manchester United has emerged as one of the clubs interested in signing Borussia Dortmund’s speedy forward Karim Adeyemi, a player renowned for his exceptional pace, which reportedly exceeds that of Marcus Rashford. Adeyemi’s combination of speed and technical skill has caught the attention of several Premier League clubs, including Liverpool and Newcastle United.
United recently regained some form with a convincing victory over Southampton, which eased some of the pressure on manager Erik ten Hag following a tough start to the season. Despite the win, the team’s performances have been inconsistent, with just two victories in their first six Premier League matches. However, the club has continued to back Ten Hag, evident from their active involvement in the summer transfer market.
During the summer, Manchester United strengthened their squad by adding five new players but appears determined to make further improvements. One of the key targets is AS Monaco right-back Vanderson, who is valued between €35-40 million (£29-35 million). Vanderson, who is also being tracked by Chelsea and Tottenham, is considered an upgrade over Diogo Dalot. In addition, Dinamo Zagreb midfielder Martin Baturina, who impressed while on international duty, has also drawn United’s attention as a promising young talent.
The pursuit of Adeyemi underlines United’s desire to further enhance their attack. The 22-year-old forward joined Dortmund from RB Salzburg in 2022 and has quickly established himself as one of the Bundesliga’s top talents. Last season, Adeyemi clocked a remarkable top speed of 36.30 km/h, surpassing Rashford’s 35.71 km/h. Football pundit Ben Mattinson has described Adeyemi as “unstoppable,” and the forward has continued to impress in the 2024-25 season, scoring two goals and providing one assist in his first three Bundesliga appearances.
Adeyemi’s current contract with Dortmund runs until 2027, which means any potential transfer would come at a hefty price. Dortmund is known for commanding high fees for their key players, and with interest from other top clubs, United would face strong competition. Nevertheless, reports suggest that United is considering Adeyemi as a possible replacement for Antony, whose performances this season have been underwhelming. The Brazilian winger has also been linked with a move to Fenerbahce.
If Adeyemi were to make the move to Old Trafford, his speed and versatility could provide a significant boost to United’s attack. His pace would complement Rashford’s style of play, while his overall attacking abilities would further strengthen United’s offensive threat. Additionally, Adeyemi could be seen as a long-term solution to United’s wide attacking options, marking a potential turning point for the team as they continue to build for future success.
