BREAKING NEWS: Chelsea fans have been dealt a blow as reports emerge of a concerning agreement between the club and Joao Felix regarding his future

Chelsea are not expected to make significant signings during the January transfer window, despite likely being linked to various players. Instead, the club’s primary focus will be on reducing the size of their squad and finding new destinations for players who are not part of Enzo Maresca’s core plans.

This strategy resembles their approach during the previous January window when Chelsea avoided major spending after a substantial summer outlay. It appears the club could adopt a similar stance this winter.

That said, Chelsea is prepared to act if an opportunity arises, particularly in response to injuries affecting key defenders and midfielders. These injuries have stretched Maresca’s core group, and while the squad remains robust, the absence of European football until March will challenge the manager’s ability to rotate players effectively.

    Joao Felix’s Future

Chelsea and Joao Felix have agreed to delay discussions about his long-term future until the end of the season rather than addressing it in January. After a challenging return to London, both parties have opted to let Felix complete his first full campaign before making any decisions. Since his £45 million transfer from Atletico Madrid in August, Felix has struggled, scoring just once in the Premier League and playing under 500 minutes. Although he has had a greater role in the Conference League, it has been in less demanding matches.

Despite his limited impact, Felix is expected to remain with Chelsea until at least the summer. While a departure remains a possibility, it is not imminent, and the club reportedly still values his potential. Felix, in turn, has no intention of forcing an exit.

Selling Felix so soon after his high-profile signing would likely lead to significant backlash, especially considering the criticism the deal initially received. While some argue Felix could have been utilized more, his performances have not consistently warranted regular minutes. A recent match against Ipswich Town underscored these issues, as he failed to make a notable impression during a rare start.

    Axel Disasi’s Situation

Axel Disasi is unlikely to be sold in January unless Chelsea receives an offer that meets their expectations. Unlike players such as Ben Chilwell and Carney Chukwuemeka, there is no immediate pressure for Disasi to leave.

However, the French defender has struggled to adapt under Maresca and faces stiff competition from emerging talent Josh Acheampong. The absence of Wesley Fofana, who remains sidelined without a clear return date, has further complicated Chelsea’s defensive setup.

Chelsea signed Disasi for £39 million last season, and there is reported interest in him. An unnamed Premier League club has already made an initial inquiry, and Newcastle United was previously linked with the player. However, Disasi’s performances have not lived up to expectations, and Acheampong’s potential could make him a better fit for the team. Exploring a move for Disasi could benefit both the player and the club, as his current contributions have not aligned with Chelsea’s needs.
