Chelsea’s struggles in the Premier League persisted this weekend as they were held to a 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

The result adds to their disappointing run of form, with the Blues managing only two points from their last four league matches.

The match initially looked promising for Chelsea, who took the lead in the first half courtesy of Cole Palmer.

The forward netted his 13th league goal of the season, capitalizing on a brilliant assist from Jadon Sancho, whose creativity provided a moment of brilliance.

Despite the strong start, Chelsea failed to maintain their advantage.

Crystal Palace found an equalizer in the 82nd minute when Jean-Philippe Mateta slotted home from close range, securing a point for the Eagles and deepening Chelsea’s frustrations.

Speaking after the match, Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca did not hide his disappointment.

He voiced concerns about his team’s inability to convert chances, singling out striker Nicolas Jackson for missing crucial opportunities.

“As a striker, there are days when everything goes in, and other times when nothing works,” Maresca stated.

“He had two or three clear chances today, which shows he’s in the right positions. Hopefully, next time, fortune will favor him.”

Maresca acknowledged the significance of creating scoring opportunities but stressed the need for his players to be more clinical in front of goal.

“The key is generating chances because it indicates we are playing the right way,” he explained. “But we also need to finish those chances

. During our preparations, we focus intensely on these situations, even though our approach is already quite strong.

Improving our finishing is a priority, despite the fact that we are currently one of the better teams in terms of overall goals scored.”

The draw adds to growing concerns over Chelsea’s recent performances.

Despite their respectable position in the league standings, the lack of results in crucial games has increased pressure on Maresca and his squad to find consistency.

With expectations high, the manager and his team will need to address these shortcomings swiftly to get their campaign back on track.

Chelsea’s inability to secure wins in recent weeks has left fans and pundits alike questioning their title credentials, and time is running out for Maresca to silence the critics and guide the Blues to the form expected of them.
