Paul Pogba has addressed recent speculation linking him to a potential move to Olympique Marseille, describing such rumors as “unrealistic.”
The 31-year-old midfielder, who is currently under a four-year suspension for a doping violation, has been the center of transfer talks since his suspension was significantly reduced.
Pogba’s initial suspension stemmed from testing positive for testosterone during the 2023–2024 season.
However, following an appeal, the Court of Arbitration for Sport shortened the ban, allowing him the possibility of returning to competitive football by March 2025.
Despite his prolonged absence from the pitch, Pogba continues to attract attention from top European clubs.
Recent reports suggested he was in discussions with Ligue 1 side Olympique Marseille, a narrative fueled by comments from his close friend and former Manchester United teammate, Patrice Evra.
Evra hinted at recommending Pogba to Marseille’s sporting director, Medhi Benatia, which added credibility to the speculation.
However, Pogba has now clarified his position. In an interview with L’Equipe, he dismissed the Marseille rumors, saying, “I laugh because Uncle Pat [Evra] was joking.
It’s not realistic because I still have a contract.” He also pointed out that his current deal with Juventus is valid until 2026.
Although Pogba’s suspension has been reduced, his future with Juventus remains uncertain.
Reports indicate ongoing discussions between Pogba’s representatives and the club about a potential mutual termination of his contract.
This comes after a challenging period for the player, marked by injuries and limited game time since his return to Juventus in 2022.
Juventus appears keen to part ways with Pogba, especially in light of the doping controversy.
However, the French international has expressed a strong desire to continue playing at the highest level.
While rumors of a move to Marseille persist, such a transfer seems unlikely in the immediate future.
For now, Pogba’s focus is on preparing for his return to football in March 2025, even as uncertainty looms over his situation in Turin.
Pogba’s outright dismissal of the Marseille speculation highlights the broader question of his future.
While his ambition to resume playing at an elite level is evident, whether he remains with Juventus or explores opportunities elsewhere remains to be seen.
His next move will undoubtedly draw significant attention as he looks to rebuild his career post-suspension.
