Rúben Amorimshocks fans with the announcement of Pogba’s strong desire to return to Manchester United

Bacary Sagna has suggested that Paul Pogba could make a surprising return to Manchester United for a third spell, particularly under the management of Rúben Amorim. The French midfielder, currently without a club, is looking to revive his career after facing a series of setbacks that have left his future in professional football uncertain.

Pogba’s second stint at Juventus ended in disappointment, as he managed only 12 appearances before being sidelined due to a doping suspension. In September 2023, he was handed a four-year ban after inadvertently consuming a prohibited substance. However, after appealing the decision, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) reduced his suspension to 18 months. This ruling has allowed him to return to training as of January 2024, with eligibility to play again in March.

Now 31 years old, Pogba still has the technical ability and experience to contribute at the highest level. Sagna, a former Arsenal and Manchester City defender, believes that a return to Old Trafford could be an attractive option for Pogba, especially with Amorim at the helm. He noted that Manchester United has undergone significant changes since Pogba’s last departure, and a manager like Amorim, who has a strong understanding of player management, may see value in reintegrating the French star into the squad.

Despite a turbulent six-year spell at United that yielded just two major trophies, Pogba has always maintained a strong emotional connection with the club. Sagna highlighted that Pogba genuinely loves United and still holds it close to his heart. While his second tenure didn’t meet expectations, he wasn’t the only player who struggled during that period, as the club faced broader challenges on and off the pitch.

United’s current midfield situation could also factor into any potential return. With injuries affecting key players like Kobbie Mainoo and Manuel Ugarte, and inconsistent performances from experienced midfielders such as Casemiro and Christian Eriksen, Pogba’s return could provide much-needed depth and creativity. His vision, technical skill, and experience could help Amorim reshape the squad as he looks to implement his tactical philosophy.

However, there are lingering concerns about Pogba’s fitness and ability to perform at the highest level after such a long absence. The demands of Premier League football, combined with the pressure of returning to a club where expectations are always high, could present significant challenges. Additionally, United’s evolving dressing room dynamics might make reintegrating him a complex decision for the club’s management.

At this stage, there is no concrete evidence that United will make a move for Pogba, but speculation surrounding his future has already sparked debate among fans and analysts. If United were to take the risk, it could be a game-changing decision for both the club and the player. Whether Amorim considers Pogba part of his long-term vision remains uncertain, but the mere possibility of his return has generated widespread interest and discussion.
