Chelsea are gearing up for a hectic summer transfer window, with a number of players poised to leave Stamford Bridge.
According to sources, the club could face a situation similar to last year’s “bomb squad” clear-out, as they aim to reshape the squad ahead of a busy summer.
Behind the scenes, the Blues are pushing to complete new signings early, with the Club World Cup set to begin on June 14.
Several new arrivals are anticipated, which will likely push some current players down the pecking order.
As a result, Chelsea are preparing to offload a number of squad members deemed surplus to requirements in order to raise funds for Enzo Maresca’s first set of signings.
As previously reported on February 10, Chelsea are showing strong interest in Bournemouth’s promising centre-back Dean Huijsen.
They are facing stiff competition from Liverpool and Real Madrid for the youngster’s signature.
TEAMtalk reports that should Huijsen join, it would pave the way for Trevoh Chalobah’s departure.
Chalobah, who was brought back from a loan spell at Crystal Palace in January, remains expected to leave this summer.
Crystal Palace are keen on securing him permanently, especially as they prepare for the potential exit of Marc Guehi.
Additionally, Joao Felix will be sold following the conclusion of his loan spell at AC Milan.
Meanwhile, midfielder Andrey Santos, who impressed during his time with Strasbourg and was promised a place in Chelsea’s squad, could also move on if regular first-team opportunities are not guaranteed.
Several Chelsea players who have fallen out of favour are attracting interest.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is one such player, drawing attention from Burnley and other Premier League clubs.
Although Dewsbury-Hall would prefer a move abroad, his main priority remains securing consistent playing time.
Furthermore, winger Noni Madueke could be allowed to leave if Chelsea receive a suitable offer, just as they were willing to in January.
Despite making 28 Premier League appearances this season, Maresca is looking to strengthen his attacking options and is reportedly in discussions with Borussia Dortmund’s talented winger Jamie Gittens, who has a valuation of £35 million and is contracted until 2028.
Lastly, forward Christopher Nkunku might also be on his way out.
Reports dating back to November 25 suggested that Nkunku is dissatisfied with his limited playing time and is open to a move.
Both Barcelona and Arsenal are reportedly monitoring the situation, with Chelsea willing to consider offers in the region of £40 million for the Frenchman.
