Rúben Amorim confirms Man Utd will step up interest for £100 million-rated star if they win the Europa League. This could change everything for next season!

Manchester United manager Rúben Amorim has revealed that the club is ready to step up their chase for a £100 million-rated forward—but only if they win the Europa League and secure a Champions League spot for next season. Amorim made it clear that his top transfer target is within reach, provided the team delivers on the pitch.

Speaking openly about his ambitions and the club’s support, Amorim said:

“I am happy because I thought we would never sign him. He is my main target this season, and the club promised me that we will sign him no matter the amount, only if we can win the Europa League and qualify for the Champions League.”

Although he did not mention the player by name, reports strongly indicate that Viktor Gyökeres—the prolific Sporting CP striker—is the key name on his wishlist. Gyökeres, who currently plays under Amorim at Sporting, has been in fantastic form this season. With 23 goals and four assists in just 18 appearances, he’s shown the kind of elite output that has attracted attention from top clubs across Europe. His reported €100 million release clause reflects just how valuable he is.

Manchester United are believed to have set aside a major transfer budget to support Amorim’s vision, with around €180 million expected to go toward signing key players. Gyökeres is high on that list, along with Everton’s talented defender Jarrad Branthwaite. However, a move for either player hinges on whether United qualify for the Champions League next season. Winning the Europa League would not only help them reach Europe’s top competition but also generate much-needed financial benefits, potentially bringing in up to £80 million through prize money, broadcasting deals, and matchday revenue.

This approach shows just how much faith United have placed in Amorim. By tying big-money transfers to success in the Europa League, the club is making it clear that they expect results before investing heavily. It also reflects a smart financial strategy: paying Gyökeres’ steep release clause is more feasible with Champions League revenue and the prestige that comes with it.

Amorim’s plan clearly emphasizes the need to succeed in Europe first before making marquee signings. If successful, this could mark the start of a new era at Old Trafford—one where discipline, smart spending, and long-term vision take priority. With Gyökeres’ physical strength, tireless pressing, and goal-scoring instincts, he could be the ideal forward to lead United’s attack next season. But it all depends on whether United can lift the Europa League trophy and re-enter Europe’s elite competition.

Would Gyökeres thrive in the Premier League under Amorim again—or should United explore other attacking options if the opportunity arises?
