BREAKING NEWS: Arsenal’s Transfer Plans Unfold as Andrea Berta Targets Summer Overhaul

Arsenal’s summer transfer window plans are taking shape under new sporting director Andrea Berta, who has revealed an ambitious strategy to strengthen the squad.

The club aims to recruit three attacking players and two midfielders, with the first signing already completed — Spanish midfielder Martín Zubimendi.

The Gunners are reportedly setting their sights on Borussia Dortmund striker Serhou Guirassy as a top attacking priority.

According to Bild, Arsenal are contemplating triggering Guirassy’s £59 million release clause to land the prolific 29-year-old forward.

Guirassy has enjoyed a sensational debut season at Dortmund after joining from Stuttgart for £15 million, scoring an impressive 33 goals and providing nine assists in all competitions.

His performances have kept Dortmund in the race for a Champions League spot and attracted interest from major European clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain.

However, Dortmund’s ability to keep Guirassy may depend on their league position.

Currently, the Bundesliga side trails fourth-placed Freiburg by a single point and sits three behind Eintracht Frankfurt in third.

Failure to secure Champions League qualification could leave Dortmund under financial pressure, making them more likely to consider offers for Guirassy.

While PSG remain interested, Arsenal’s willingness to meet the striker’s release clause puts them in a strong negotiating position.

Despite Guirassy’s form, questions remain about Arsenal’s commitment to the deal, especially given the club’s focus on signing younger players.

Guirassy turns 30 in the 2025/26 season, which conflicts with Arsenal’s long-term squad-building strategy.

In contrast, another striker on Arsenal’s radar fits their recruitment model more closely — Viktor Gyokeres of Sporting CP.

The 26-year-old Swedish international is believed to have agreed on personal terms with the Gunners, who are prepared to spend £59 million to secure his services.

Gyokeres has had a remarkable season, racking up 52 goals and 13 assists, and is seen as a key figure in Arsenal’s plans to reinforce their attacking options.

Berta’s vision emphasizes acquiring players with both current impact and future resale value.

This approach was evident in Arsenal’s recent refusal to meet Aston Villa’s £40 million asking price for Ollie Watkins, another striker nearing 30.

The club’s reluctance to invest heavily in older players signals a strategic focus on building a youthful, high-potential squad capable of long-term success.

As the transfer window approaches, the situation surrounding Guirassy may evolve, especially if Dortmund miss out on a top-four finish.

Arsenal’s potential Champions League qualification could give them the upper hand in negotiations.

With decisive moves expected in the coming weeks, fans are watching closely as Arsenal prepares for a critical summer aimed at elevating their status in Europe and the Premier League.
