Manchester United’s top summer target has officially reached a personal terms agreement to join the club, sealing a long-term five-year deal.

Manchester United are reportedly engaged in early negotiations with Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo, as the club looks to bounce back from one of their poorest campaigns in recent memory.

After finishing an alarming 15th in the Premier League and missing out on all forms of European competition, the Red Devils are eager to rebuild—starting with much-needed reinforcements in attack.

Mbeumo, who delivered an outstanding season for Brentford by scoring 20 goals in the Premier League, has emerged as a serious transfer target.

His goal-scoring prowess has elevated him into the upper echelon of the league’s forwards, trailing only behind Erling Haaland, Mohamed Salah, and Alexander Isak in the Golden Boot race.

Reliable journalist Ben Jacobs has reported that talks have already begun between United and Mbeumo, with the club seeing him as a strong option to rejuvenate their attacking line—potentially playing him alongside young winger Amad Diallo.

Brentford are believed to have placed a £50 million valuation on the Cameroonian international.

However, with his contract set to expire at the end of the upcoming season, Manchester United may be in a stronger position to negotiate a more favorable deal.

Given their dire offensive record—only outscoring Everton and the three relegated clubs—Manchester United are in desperate need of a consistent goal threat, and Mbeumo’s impressive tally and form make him an ideal candidate.

The lack of European football next season has forced United to adjust their transfer strategy, opting to pursue high-impact players from mid-table clubs rather than vying for global superstars.

Mbeumo is a perfect fit for this more pragmatic approach.

In addition to his goal-scoring capabilities, he is known for his versatility across the front line, making him an asset for new manager Rúben Amorim as he leads the INEOS-backed rebuild.

Since arriving in England four years ago, Mbeumo has shown consistent development, gradually increasing his goal contributions year over year.

His reliability and growth have made him one of Brentford’s most valuable players.

For United, bringing him in would not only signal a renewed focus on Premier League-proven talent but also address one of their most glaring weaknesses: a lack of firepower.

In addition to Mbeumo, United are reportedly keeping tabs on other attacking options such as Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap and Wolves’ Matheus Cunha.

These moves suggest a deliberate shift toward acquiring smart, efficient signings rather than marquee names.

Should United successfully secure Mbeumo’s signature, it would mark a significant and strategic step toward rebuilding a competitive and dangerous attacking unit for the seasons ahead.
