Manchester United are making major moves in the transfer market, with two exciting additions—Bryan Mbeumo and Diego León—nearing completion, according to multiple reliable sources.
United have been pursuing Bryan Mbeumo for several weeks, and now it seems that a deal for the Brentford star is almost complete.
According to talkSPORT journalist Anil Kandola, the Red Devils are in the final stages of negotiations, with an official announcement expected in about a week.
United are determined to secure the 25-year-old’s signature after a series of productive talks, and Mbeumo has made it clear that he prefers a move to Old Trafford over offers from other Premier League clubs.
Although Spurs boss Thomas Frank—who managed Mbeumo at Brentford—was keen on a reunion at Tottenham, Mbeumo has chosen to pursue a new challenge under Ruben Amorim at United.
Reports suggest that agreeing personal terms with both the player and Brentford should not be a problem, with both parties optimistic a deal will be sealed shortly.
United initially tabled a bid of around £45 million plus £10 million in add-ons, which Brentford rejected. The London side are holding firm for a fee closer to £60-65 million.
Nonetheless, discussions are progressing positively, and sources believe an agreement could be reached by the end of the month.
If the move is finalized, Mbeumo will bring much-needed attacking strength to a United side that finished last season in disappointing fashion.
Meanwhile, Manchester United have also officially secured the signing of promising Paraguayan youngster Diego León.
According to VSports Team, the 18-year-old left-back will officially join United on July 1 after having agreed to a five-year contract earlier this year.
United had originally reached a pre-agreement with León last winter following his successful medical tests.
However, under current Brexit rules, Premier League clubs cannot register foreign players under the age of 18, which delayed the formal completion of the transfer.
León has been gaining valuable experience with Paraguayan side Porteno, racking up 33 senior appearances.
Known for his strong tackling, defensive awareness, and duel-winning ability, León is considered a bright talent for the future.
He averages over four duels won per game, along with 2.7 recoveries and 2.6 clearances per match.
However, it is acknowledged that León still needs to work on his ball control, which is expected to improve with age and top-level training at United.
The arrival of León could have implications for other players in the squad, notably Harry Amass and Tyrell Malacia. Amass, who showed promise as a left-wing-back, may be loaned out next season to gain first-team experience.
Meanwhile, Malacia, who spent the latter part of last season on loan at PSV Eindhoven, could leave Old Trafford on a permanent transfer this summer.
