Diego León is officially set to begin his Manchester United journey on July 1, when he travels to England to finalize his long-awaited move to Old Trafford.
The highly-rated Paraguayan full-back has been on United’s radar since January, and after months of anticipation, the transfer is finally set in motion.
Earlier this summer, Manchester United kicked off their transfer activity with the acquisition of Brazilian striker Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers, having triggered his £62.5 million release clause.
Now, the focus is shifting toward reinforcing other areas of the squad, including defense and attack.
While talks with Brentford for Bryan Mbeumo continue, progress has been slow due to the London club’s steep valuation, despite the Cameroonian forward giving his approval for a move to United earlier in June.

Reports indicate that the two clubs agreed on a deal worth approximately £6 million during the January transfer window. León even underwent medical examinations at the time, but FIFA regulations prevented the transfer from being completed until he turned 18, which he did in April.
A standout performer with the Paraguay U20 national team, León has built a reputation for his pace, stamina, and tactical intelligence.
Capable of playing across various defensive roles, he’s particularly known for his attacking runs and ability to transition play from the back, traits that fit the profile of a modern full-back.
His versatility and composure under pressure attracted attention from multiple European clubs, including Sporting CP, managed at the time by Ruben Amorim. However, United acted swiftly to secure his signature.
Now officially eligible to complete his move, León is expected to join United’s pre-season training sessions this summer.
