- Manchester United have stepped up their pursuit of Brentford’s star forward Bryan Mbeumo by submitting an improved offer believed to be worth more than £60 million, according to journalist Duncan Castles.
United had initially tabled a £55 million bid for the highly-rated Cameroonian forward, but that offer was turned down by Brentford.
Determined to get their man, the Red Devils have now returned with a new package exceeding £60 million as they look to further strengthen Ruben Amorim’s attacking options ahead of the new season.
Bryan Mbeumo has been on the radar of several Premier League clubs following a sensational 2024/25 campaign in which he netted 20 goals and provided eight assists across 38 league appearances for Brentford.
His clinical finishing and creativity in the final third have made him one of the most sought-after forwards in English football.
Speaking on the Transfers Podcast, Castles revealed that United’s aim is not only to secure Mbeumo as quickly as possible — as they successfully did with their recent signing of Matheus Cunha — but also to stay ahead of competition from other Premier League sides.
Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United, and Aston Villa have all shown significant interest in Mbeumo and are monitoring his situation closely.
Castles explained, “United have offered a package worth more than £60m for the 25-year-old forward, who greatly exceeded his expected goals tally last season.
Their goal is to move fast and beat their rivals to his signature.”
Mbeumo is now expected to leave Brentford, with only one year remaining on his current deal, although the club do have an option to extend his contract until June 2027.
The Bees are bracing themselves for further bids, but United are currently leading the chase.
Meanwhile, Manchester United are also looking to clear space in their forward line to accommodate new signings.
The club are open to offers for several attackers including Marcus Rashford, Antony, Alejandro Garnacho, and Jadon Sancho.
Among these players, Sancho is seen as a priority departure, with United eager to sell him permanently this summer after Chelsea chose not to exercise their option to buy.
If United succeed in landing Mbeumo, he would become a key figure in Amorim’s attacking setup — one that already boasts fresh talent with the recent addition of Cunha.
The club remain hopeful that Mbeumo’s arrival could add significant firepower as they aim to bounce back strongly next season.
