Manchester United have reportedly secured a full agreement with Brentford to sign their star forward, Bryan Mbeumo, marking a significant development in their summer transfer window.
According to reports from CentreDevils, the Cameroonian attacker is now poised to become United’s second major signing of the summer following the earlier arrival of Matheus Cunha.
United had initially submitted a £55 million offer, which Brentford rejected as they stood firm on their valuation.
However, after several rounds of negotiations, the Red Devils succeeded with a revised bid in the region of £60 million, including performance-based add-ons.
This deal now appears to be finalized, with personal terms already agreed between Mbeumo and the club.
Mbeumo had long prioritized a move to Old Trafford, having shown clear intent to join the Premier League giants over the past month.
His desire to play under new manager Rúben Amorim, coupled with the opportunity to step onto a bigger stage, reportedly pushed Brentford to eventually accept United’s proposal.
The 25-year-old winger is fresh off a breakout season in the Premier League. In the 2024/25 campaign, he delivered an outstanding performance, recording 20 goals and 8 assists across 38 appearances.
These numbers not only marked his best season to date but also solidified his status as one of the most consistent and effective attackers in the league.
Mbeumo’s attributes—versatility, a keen eye for goal, high work rate, and tactical intelligence—make him a perfect fit for Amorim’s high-energy system.
The player can comfortably operate on the right wing, cut inside, or even fill in centrally when required.
This flexibility is something United have sorely lacked in recent years, especially with players like Antony and Sancho struggling for form and consistency.
With Mbeumo and Cunha now secured, Manchester United’s early summer spending totals £122.5 million, signaling a shift toward a more aggressive and efficient recruitment strategy under INEOS.
The club is also believed to still be in the market for a new striker, though their pursuit of Viktor Gyökeres may have hit a dead end.
The Sporting Lisbon striker is reportedly leaning toward a move to Arsenal, motivated by the chance to play Champions League football.
Despite this setback, landing Mbeumo is a major statement. Not only have United beaten rival clubs like Tottenham, who were also interested in the Brentford man, but they’ve also added a Premier League-proven attacker who’s entering the prime of his career.
