DEAL COMPLETED: Manchester United Beat PSG and Real Madrid to £60m South American Star – Medical Confirmed This Week

Manchester United have reportedly won the transfer race for one of South America’s most sought-after forwards, Bryan Mbeumo, beating out strong interest from both Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid.

The Red Devils have agreed to a deal in the region of £60 million, and plans for the player’s medical are already in place. Mbeumo is expected to travel soon, with his medical scheduled to take place later this week.

The move is seen as a massive win for United fans, who have been eagerly anticipating attacking reinforcements.

United had initially submitted an offer of £55 million for the Brentford attacker, but it was turned down as Brentford valued the player higher—closer to the £62.5 million the club recently paid for Matheus Cunha.

United returned with an improved proposal exceeding £60 million, which includes a guaranteed £55 million upfront and £5 million in performance-based add-ons.

Although the deal is progressing well, Brentford are still reviewing the fine print, especially the structure of the add-ons and bonuses.

Reports from The Standard indicate that the West London club is open to concluding the deal but wants more favourable and achievable add-ons before signing off on the transfer.

Talks are ongoing to finalize these terms, with all parties optimistic a full agreement will be sealed within days.

The Cameroonian international had a sensational Premier League season last term, scoring 20 goals, placing him among the league’s top scorers—trailing only Mohamed Salah, Erling Haaland, and Alexander Isak.

This marked the first time Mbeumo has hit double figures at the top-flight level, showcasing massive growth in his attacking output.

Previously, Mbeumo scored 11 goals for Ligue 2 side Troyes in 2018/19 and followed that with 16 goals in the 2019/20 season with Brentford in the Championship.

His first three Premier League seasons saw him record consistent numbers, netting eight, nine, and nine goals in all competitions respectively.

United see Mbeumo as a key player to fill one of the attacking midfield roles, likely operating alongside newly signed Matheus Cunha in a dual No. 10 system under incoming manager Rúben Amorim.

His ability to score, press, and adapt tactically makes him a perfect fit for the manager’s high-energy style.

If the medical and paperwork go through as planned, Mbeumo will become Manchester United’s second marquee signing of the summer.

The transfer would also represent Brentford’s biggest sale ever, surpassing the £40 million fee received for Ivan Toney from Al-Ahli.
