After a disappointing first season, many expected him to settle in and improve, but the inconsistency and key mistakes continued through the 2023/24 campaign.
As a result, faith in Onana has significantly dropped among the United fanbase and coaching staff.
United are now seriously considering a replacement and see Martínez as a key target. It is reported that talks between Manchester United and Aston Villa are underway, with Villa reportedly willing to consider offers in the region of £40 million.
On Martínez’s side, the Argentine is said to be open to the move.
