Manchester United have now officially sealed the signing of Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford, completing what is reported to be Rúben Amorim’s fourth addition of the summer window.

The transfer marks a major step forward in United’s squad rebuild, as the club continues to make bold moves under the new INEOS sporting structure.

The 25-year-old Cameroonian winger, who had long been on United’s radar, is expected to undergo his medical examination tomorrow morning, with all other aspects of the deal now fully agreed.

United had made Mbeumo a key target from the start of the month, especially after the player made it clear that he would prefer a move to Old Trafford, despite interest from Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur.

While Newcastle were initially serious contenders for Mbeumo’s signature, their interest cooled due to two major hurdles—his high wage demands and Brentford’s valuation.

The Magpies decided to shift focus, with Mbeumo reportedly set to earn around £200,000 per week at United—figures Newcastle were not prepared to match.

Earlier this month, Manchester United made an opening offer of £45 million plus £10 million in add-ons, but Brentford rejected that proposal.

However, negotiations continued positively, and United returned with a bid exceeding £60 million, which finally satisfied Brentford’s demands.

With both club and player on the same page, the transfer is now officially complete, pending the final medical.

The winger had a sensational 2024/25 Premier League campaign, scoring 20 goals and registering 8 assists, making it his most productive season to date.

His consistency and explosiveness on the right wing filled a major void—something United have struggled to fix in recent seasons with the underwhelming form of players like Antony and Sancho.

To mark his high-profile arrival, Mbeumo is also set to be handed a “legendary squad number” at United.

While not yet confirmed, there are strong suggestions it could be the iconic No. 7 jersey, previously worn by club legends such as Cristiano Ronaldo, David Beckham, and Eric Cantona.

With Mbeumo now officially confirmed, Manchester United’s total summer spend has climbed significantly. He joins Matheus Cunha, Leny Yoro, and João Neves as part of Amorim’s squad overhaul.

Meanwhile, Newcastle have turned their attention to other targets, including Anthony Elanga, as they continue their search for a new right-winger.

Interestingly, any potential move for Elanga could benefit United financially due to a sell-on clause inserted when they sold him to Nottingham Forest.

United fans have every reason to be excited, as this move not only strengthens the frontline but also reflects a more ambitious, well-thought-out recruitment strategy taking shape at Old Trafford.
