Manchester United have stepped up their efforts to sign Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo, clearly signalling how determined they are to bring the 24-year-old into their ranks as part of an ambitious summer overhaul.
Recent updates from reporter Nathan Salt indicate that there’s significant pressure at Old Trafford to conclude this deal as quickly as possible — ideally before the team’s pre-season camp begins — so that Mbeumo can hit the ground running with his new teammates.
After enjoying an impressive campaign with Brentford last season, Mbeumo is one of the players United’s scouts and analysts have earmarked as a perfect fit for their style of play.
Rúben Amorim, who looks set to take the reins at United, is especially eager to add Mbeumo’s direct pace, technical skill, and creativity to his attacking setup.
The Cameroonian’s dynamism and proven track record in the Premier League make him a natural choice for Amorim’s system, which places a big emphasis on energetic forwards capable of pressing aggressively and exploiting spaces in behind.
To make their intent crystal clear, United have already gone back to the negotiating table with a second, enhanced offer.
According to reports, their first bid — worth £45 million up front with a further £10 million in performance-related add-ons — was rejected.
Now, United are thought to have increased their proposal to a sum exceeding £60 million in total value, bringing them closer to Brentford’s stated £60–65 million valuation. This is a serious move from United and one that underscores just how highly they rate Mbeumo.
For his part, Mbeumo himself is believed to be enthusiastic about the prospect of joining the club. The player would reportedly prefer to sign for United despite other top-flight sides like Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United showing interest.
Personal terms are thought to have already been discussed, with a proposed salary around £250,000 per week.
Given Mbeumo’s strong desire to move to Manchester and the club’s willingness to offer him a lucrative contract, all the conditions for a transfer seem to be in place — provided United can bridge the remaining gap on the transfer fee.
From a tactical perspective, Mbeumo ticks all the right boxes. Last season he racked up 20 goals and eight assists for Brentford, and his versatility allows him to operate across the front line, especially as an inside forward supporting a central striker.
