Manchester United Seal Full Agreement for Bryan Mbeumo in £60m Deal

Manchester United are closing in on their second major signing of the summer transfer window after reaching a full agreement with Brentford to sign Bryan Mbeumo, according to a report by CentreDevils.

The Cameroonian forward, who has long been admired by the Old Trafford hierarchy, will now join fellow attacker Matheus Cunha, whose transfer was finalized earlier this month for £62.5 million.

Mbeumo, 25, had expressed a strong desire to join Manchester United, reportedly making them his top priority.

The Red Devils initially saw a £55 million bid turned down by Brentford, but were successful with a second offer worth £60 million, inclusive of performance-based add-ons.

With terms now agreed between the two clubs as well as with the player, the deal is considered done, with only an official announcement pending.

The signing will take Manchester United’s total summer expenditure to around £122.5 million, with both Cunha and Mbeumo representing the club’s renewed focus on rebuilding its attacking line.

Mbeumo, who has developed into one of the most consistent wingers in the Premier League, is coming off a stellar campaign, scoring 20 goals and delivering 8 assists in 38 league appearances for Brentford during the 2024/25 season—his most prolific season to date.

In addition to his scoring record, the Cameroonian international offers tactical flexibility, with the ability to play on the right wing, his natural position, but also adapt to the left flank or play in a second striker role.

His high work rate, sharp finishing, and intelligent off-the-ball movement make him a valuable addition to Erik ten Hag’s squad.

Tottenham Hotspur were also reportedly interested in securing Mbeumo’s services, with hopes of reuniting him with manager Thomas Frank, who previously coached him at Brentford.

However, United’s persistence and improved offer ultimately won the race for his signature.

Despite the success in securing Mbeumo, Manchester United still have work to do in the forward department.

Their pursuit of Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres has reportedly hit a roadblock, with the Swedish striker preferring a move to Arsenal, who can offer Champions League football next season.

As United look to build on what has been a fast-paced transfer window, Bryan Mbeumo’s arrival marks a significant statement of intent, showcasing the club’s ambition to challenge for major honours in the upcoming season.

The official announcement of Mbeumo’s signing is expected soon.
