Old Trafford erupts as the Man City legend could be heading across town. With his contract expiring in 2025, City is reportedly open to a deal!

Manchester United is actively strategizing ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window by keeping close tabs on several players whose contracts are nearing their end.

With a renewed focus on strengthening the squad without incurring massive transfer fees, United is eyeing a mix of experienced and versatile talents, some of whom could arrive on free transfers or through creative swap deals.

Among the most notable names on their radar is Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey.

United is closely monitoring his contract situation at the Emirates, especially if Arsenal decides against a renewal.

Partey’s physical presence, calmness under pressure, and wealth of experience in midfield make him a prime target. Should he become available for free, United could swiftly make a move.

In defense, Kyle Walker-Peters of Southampton is another strong candidate.

The full-back, capable of playing both left and right sides of defense, becomes an even more appealing prospect if Southampton gets relegated.

His flexibility would provide Erik ten Hag with valuable squad depth and tactical options.

A more ambitious—though unlikely—target is Lionel Messi, currently at Inter Miami.

While the idea of Messi donning a United shirt seems far-fetched, especially given his ties to Barcelona and recent move to the MLS, United would not turn down the opportunity to bring one of football’s greatest icons to Old Trafford, even for a short-term stint.

United is also considering Ola Aina of Nottingham Forest.

Despite Aina expressing a willingness to stay at Forest, ongoing uncertainty in contract discussions could allow United to swoop in.

His defensive adaptability makes him a cost-effective and reliable squad option. Similarly, Dominic Calvert-Lewin of Everton is being looked at as a backup or rotational striker.

With his contract status unresolved and United in need of attacking reinforcements, Calvert-Lewin, at 27, could be a useful addition alongside Rasmus Højlund.

Another interesting option is Angel Gomes, a product of United’s academy who now plays for Lille.

Gomes has matured well in Ligue 1, and a return could be on the cards if his talks with the French side stall.

United is also evaluating Olivier Boscagli from PSV and Tyrick Mitchell of Crystal Palace.

Boscagli brings solid defensive skills with a passing range suited to Ten Hag’s style, while Mitchell adds defensive reliability and attacking support from left-back.

Perhaps the most sensational name linked is Kevin De Bruyne.

Though a move to the MLS seems more probable, Manchester United is quietly monitoring his situation.

Should a rare opportunity arise, United would be ready to make a bold move that would send shockwaves across football.

Other potential signings include Frank Anguissa (Napoli), Jonathan Tah (Leverkusen), Leroy Sané (Bayern Munich), Jonathan David (Lille), and Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool).

These targets showcase a balance of ambition and realism as United looks to reshape its squad through smart, low-cost additions.

In summary, Manchester United’s transfer approach blends strategic planning with calculated ambition.

They aim to take full advantage of expiring contracts, targeting players who offer quality, experience, and flexibility—without breaking the bank.
