Following the recent confirmation that Matheus Cunha is moving to Old Trafford, Manchester United have shifted focus to strengthening other areas of their attacking setup.
One player they’re seriously targeting is Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo, who is seen as a perfect fit for Ruben Amorim’s tactical blueprint.
However, despite making an initial bid well over a week ago, United have hit some roadblocks in discussions with Brentford, and the transfer is yet to materialize.
Mbeumo is reportedly enthusiastic about the possibility of working under Amorim and joining a club of United’s stature, but the Bees are standing firm on their valuation.
Meanwhile, other Premier League sides like Tottenham are also keeping close tabs on the situation, which only increases the pressure on United to act quickly before a rival club moves in.
Fabrizio Romano has provided further insight into the situation, making it clear that United haven’t tabled a new offer since their first one was rejected.
Romano explained that while talks between United and Brentford are ongoing, there is a sense of uncertainty surrounding the deal as the clock continues to tick.
Unless United come back with an improved proposal soon, the prospect of losing Mbeumo to another club is a real concern.
At the same time, United are actively diversifying their options up front. La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that United have reignited their interest in Fiorentina’s Moise Kean.
The Italian forward, who previously had a tough spell at Everton as a teenager, has rebuilt his reputation in Serie A.
Last season at Fiorentina, Kean hit 25 goals in 44 appearances, showing real growth in his game—particularly his clever movement, ability to link up play under pressure, and sharpness inside the box.
Now aged 25, Kean appears to have matured considerably as a player and is looking for the right opportunity to establish himself once again in the Premier League.
There is also a strategic element to this pursuit. Kean has a £45 million release clause that becomes active between July 1 and July 15, creating a time-sensitive chance for United to land him on a permanent deal.
United face competition too; Saudi Arabian clubs have expressed interest, hoping to lure him to the Middle East.
However, according to reports, Kean would prefer to remain in Europe to continue proving himself at the top level.
That being said, Kean’s arrival at Old Trafford would likely depend on the club resolving Rasmus Højlund’s future. The Danish forward has failed to hit top gear and might need to move on before a replacement is secured.
If United can navigate that issue successfully, Kean would provide a talented alternative to Mbeumo — or perhaps feature alongside him — adding flexibility and depth to Amorim’s attack going into the new campaign.
