BREAKING: A compilation of Matheus Cunha’s performance against West Ham has just dropped

Manchester United supporters have been lighting up social media after watching a viral compilation of Matheus Cunha’s standout moments in the club’s 2-1 pre-season victory over West Ham.

The friendly, held at the MetLife Stadium in New York City, was another opportunity for Rúben Amorim’s men to showcase their progress as they maintained their unbeaten run in the warm-up fixtures.

The match itself saw captain Bruno Fernandes take centre stage with a decisive brace, while West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen managed to pull one back late on.

Compared to the team’s earlier goalless draw with Leeds, United’s display was a noticeable step up in intensity and attacking fluidity.

One of the key talking points was the performance of Cunha, the Brazilian forward recently signed from Wolverhampton Wanderers for a reported £62.5 million.

Making his second start for the Red Devils, he delivered a 66-minute display full of energy, technique, and promise.

Across Twitter, Instagram, and fan forums, United supporters shared clips of Cunha’s sharp link-up play, close control, and ability to carry the ball through West Ham’s midfield lines.

His confidence in possession and smooth combinations with teammates such as Bruno Fernandes and Alejandro Garnacho drew widespread praise.

Many fans highlighted how his direct running added a new dynamic to the attack — something the squad desperately lacked last season.

Reactions were overwhelmingly positive, with comments like, “Finally, we have someone who can drive forward with pace and purpose,” and “£62.5m looks like money well spent already.”

Others noted that his ball progression and dribbling under pressure could become a key weapon in breaking down stubborn defensive blocks in the upcoming Premier League campaign.

Not all feedback was without nuance, however. Some supporters felt Cunha slightly faded during the latter stages before being substituted, though most attributed that to early pre-season fitness rather than any concern over his quality.

A few also mentioned the lack of a goal or assist, but acknowledged the performance was more about showing intent and building chemistry with the squad than producing final numbers at this stage.

After the match, manager Rúben Amorim was quick to single out Cunha for praise in his post-match comments.

He emphasized the Brazilian’s unique ability to change the tempo of a game with his dribbling: “Matheus Cunha is that kind of player that can help us a lot because he can run with the ball and that is something that can change the game. We missed that last year.”

As United prepare to face Bournemouth at Soldier Field in Chicago for their next Summer Series fixture, attention will again turn to Cunha.

Fans are eager to see whether he can build on this encouraging performance, secure a regular starting spot, and perhaps become the explosive attacking outlet the team has been missing.
