BREAKING NEWS: PSG manager Luis Enrique has explained why facing Chelsea in the Club World Cup final won’t be a walk in the park for his team

Paris Saint-Germain head coach Luis Enrique has opened up about the challenge his team will face when they meet Chelsea in the FIFA Club World Cup final.

Speaking in a recent interview with L’Équipe, the Spanish tactician made it clear that the upcoming fixture will be anything but simple, strongly rejecting the idea that PSG are guaranteed an easy win.

Enrique, known for his tactical awareness and experience at the top level of football, was full of praise for Chelsea and their manager, Enzo Maresca. He emphasized that anyone expecting PSG to cruise through the final doesn’t truly grasp the complexities of the sport.

“Anyone who thinks this match is going to be a formality doesn’t know anything about football,” he stated firmly, highlighting the competitive nature of the game.

The PSG boss explained that he has studied Chelsea in detail and come to respect their structure, energy, and development under Maresca. He referenced their recent success in Europe, noting their UEFA Conference League triumph as a clear indicator of progress.

Though the Conference League may not carry the same weight as the Champions League, Enrique argued that it still showcases a team’s growth and ability to compete under pressure.

“Chelsea are a strong side,” he continued. “They’ve found rhythm and balance under Enzo Maresca, who I admire very much. His tactical discipline and the way he motivates his players is visible on the pitch.”

Enrique also hinted that Chelsea’s blend of young talent and established players makes them unpredictable and dangerous — especially in a final where both sides will be giving everything.

Despite PSG entering the match with a squad full of superstars and a reputation as one of Europe’s elite, Enrique seemed determined not to underestimate the London club.

His tone suggested respect rather than arrogance, reinforcing the idea that no fixture should be taken lightly at this level of the competition.

He concluded by reiterating that finals are often decided by the smallest margins — a single mistake or moment of brilliance can determine the outcome. Therefore, his side will prepare thoroughly, knowing that Chelsea are capable of upsetting expectations.

In short, Luis Enrique made it clear that PSG will treat the final with the seriousness it deserves, acknowledging Chelsea as a worthy opponent with the potential to win.

His comments reflect a broader understanding that success on the global stage requires focus, humility, and hard work — not just talent.
