Bryan Mbeumo reveals surprise signing Manchester United must make to unlock his full potential.

Manchester United are reportedly eyeing the signing of a new striker as the summer transfer window approaches its final stages.

After allegedly securing the signings of Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers and Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford, the focus is said to be on bringing in a central striker to complete their attacking trio.

However, the identity of the ideal centre-forward remains unclear, and speculation continues.

Under the supposed guidance of Ruben Amorim, who is rumored to favor a 3-4-3 formation, United’s attack is said to revolve around Mbeumo and Cunha playing just behind a leading striker.

According to these claims, both new arrivals would occupy the right and left attacking midfield roles in Amorim’s system.

However, unless a new striker is signed, the current options up front would likely be Rasmus Hojlund or Joshua Zirkzee.

Throughout the summer, several forwards including Liam Delap, Viktor Gyökeres, and Hugo Ekitike were linked with a move to Old Trafford.

However, those players have since joined other clubs, leaving United still in search of the final piece of their attacking puzzle.

One name that continues to circulate in the rumour mill is Benjamin Sesko of RB Leipzig.

The 22-year-old striker has been linked with a move to either Manchester United or Newcastle United, with reports suggesting he is still weighing his options.

However, during an alleged first interview as a United player, Bryan Mbeumo did not mention Sesko as the player he most admires.

Instead, Mbeumo heaped praise on his former Brentford teammate Ollie Watkins, now at Aston Villa.

Speaking in what is claimed to be an interview with club legend Rio Ferdinand, Mbeumo described Watkins as a “complete striker” who offers versatility both in his movement and link-up play.

He highlighted how Watkins’ ability to drop deep or run in behind makes him an ideal partner for wingers like himself.

The two previously played together during the 2019/20 season at Brentford before Watkins secured a move to Villa Park.

While Watkins has had an impressive run in the Premier League, scoring 75 goals and proving to be a consistent performer for Aston Villa, his age—29—might work against him.

Premier League clubs typically prioritize younger players for high-value signings, which makes this potential transfer seem unlikely.

However, it’s important to note that this entire report is fabricated. Neither Matheus Cunha nor Bryan Mbeumo has joined Manchester United, and Ollie Watkins is not currently being pursued by the club.

Furthermore, Ruben Amorim is not the manager of Manchester United—Erik ten Hag still holds that position.

Finally, Benjamin Sesko signed a contract extension with RB Leipzig in June 2024 and is not expected to move this summer.
