At the time Mason Greenwood first played for the England national team, his appearance would have disqualified him from ever representing another country under the existing FIFA eligibility rules.

This change allowed players under the age of 21 who had featured in fewer than four competitive matches for a national team to switch allegiances, provided they met other criteria.
The mandatory three-year waiting period required for such a switch officially ended for Greenwood in early September 2023.
Now, nearly sixteen months later, new reports—most notably from the Daily Star—indicate that Greenwood has taken advantage of the rule change and officially switched international allegiance.
Following his suspension by Manchester United in January 2022 after he was arrested on allegations including rape and assault, Greenwood’s standing with the England national team took a significant hit.
Although the criminal charges were eventually dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service after he denied all accusations, the Football Association is said to have informed him that he would not be considered for England selection again.
After a loan stint with Getafe last season, Greenwood moved permanently this summer to French club Marseille.
Now, it appears he has also changed his international football path by committing to the Jamaican national team.
Former Manchester United assistant coach Steve McClaren, who was recently appointed as head coach of Jamaica, revealed that he had spoken to Greenwood during their time together at Carrington.
Their reunion under the Jamaican flag could mark a new chapter for both coach and player.
Meanwhile, rumors surrounding Real Madrid forward Rodrygo Goes and a potential transfer to Manchester United have been circulating.
Despite the growing buzz, no credible source has confirmed that Rodrygo has officially agreed to leave Real Madrid for United.
Multiple media outlets have reported interest from Manchester United, who are said to be preparing a bid in the region of €80 million.
The move is viewed as a possible key part of new manager Rúben Amorim’s attacking overhaul.
Nevertheless, it’s important to note that there are no verified quotes from Rodrygo or his representatives confirming that he has agreed to a transfer.
