Manchester United appear to be edging closer to completing the signing of Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo in a deal reportedly valued at £60 million, according to multiple sources including transfer insider Mike Brown.
While there is no official club confirmation yet, signs strongly suggest that a breakthrough is imminent — with reports indicating that a medical could even take place as early as tomorrow, followed by a full unveiling.
The Red Devils have been tracking Mbeumo for several years, and this summer they intensified their efforts to finally bring the 25-year-old Cameroonian forward to Old Trafford.
Despite interest from Newcastle United, Arsenal, and Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United have managed to win over the player, who has reportedly made it clear that his preferred destination is Manchester under new boss Rúben Amorim.
Negotiations between Manchester United and Brentford, however, have been far from smooth. The initial offer of £55 million was swiftly turned down by the West London club.
United responded with an improved bid worth just over £60 million, which was also rejected.
Brentford, while acknowledging the player’s desire to leave, remain firm on securing a fee that reflects Mbeumo’s value — particularly after his career-best season, where he registered 27 goal contributions in the Premier League.
Despite the two setbacks, United have not given up. According to Brown via Football Insider, a third and final offer is being prepared and confidence is growing within Old Trafford that this time, it will be accepted.
Brown adds that Mbeumo has already informed Brentford of his wish to leave, a factor that reportedly weakens their position during negotiations and increases the likelihood of a deal going through.
Should the transfer be finalized, Mbeumo is expected to slot into the right No.10 role in Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 tactical setup.
With Matheus Cunha recently signed to occupy the left-side attacking midfield position, United’s front line could feature a dynamic blend of technical skill, pace, and creativity.
Mbeumo’s ability to play both as a right winger and second striker gives Amorim valuable flexibility as he reshapes the squad.
This deal is also significant from a financial standpoint. If completed, Mbeumo will reportedly become United’s second-highest paid player, behind only Bruno Fernandes.
That reflects both his proven quality and the club’s belief in his ability to impact their upcoming Premier League and Europa League campaigns.
While the official announcement is still pending, the signs point to Bryan Mbeumo becoming one of the marquee signings of United’s summer, adding further firepower to Amorim’s ambitious rebuild.
