UPDATE: According to David Ornstein, Newcastle United will only allow Alexander Isak to join Arsenal if one key condition is met

A new development has surfaced in the ongoing speculation linking Alexander Isak with a transfer to Arsenal.

According to respected journalist David Ornstein, Newcastle United might be open to allowing their star striker to depart, but only under a strict condition tied to their financial circumstances.

Speaking during a recent media briefing, Ornstein clarified Newcastle’s stance regarding Isak’s future.

While the club does not actively want to part ways with the Swedish forward, financial pressures—specifically those related to the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules—may force their hand.

Ornstein explained that a transfer would only be possible if a substantial, record-setting fee is offered, a valuation that could pose a significant challenge for Arsenal to meet unless they make room in both their finances and squad.

Insiders close to both Newcastle and Arsenal have revealed that the Tyneside club would demand a fee exceeding £100 million to even consider a deal.

Such a figure would place Isak among the most expensive signings in Premier League history.

Newcastle view the 24-year-old as an essential piece of their long-term ambitions but are facing the harsh reality of having to balance their books ahead of the summer transfer window.

At Arsenal, manager Mikel Arteta is reportedly a strong admirer of Isak.

The Swedish international is seen as a perfect fit for the Gunners’ attacking system and could serve as a long-term replacement for Gabriel Jesus, whose recent injury record and inconsistency have raised questions.

Arteta believes Isak’s versatility, technical skill, and goal-scoring ability make him a natural addition to Arsenal’s forward line, helping them push for major trophies next season.

However, accommodating a move of this magnitude would require significant adjustments at Arsenal.

The North London club would likely need to sell one or more key players to fund the deal and free up space in the squad.

Eddie Nketiah and Emile Smith Rowe are two names who have been mentioned as potential departures, with both players struggling for consistent game time in recent seasons.

As it stands, Alexander Isak remains a Newcastle United player, and no formal offers have been made.

Nevertheless, this situation is expected to develop further as the summer transfer window approaches.

Both clubs are entering a critical period, and any movement from Arsenal could set the wheels in motion for one of the window’s biggest deals.

For now, the story remains fluid, but Isak’s future is certainly one to watch.
