Man Utd fans urge club to change their plans after witnessing “a superstar in the making” during the game vs ASEAN All-Stars

Manchester United’s pre-season tour got off to a rough start as Ruben Amorim’s squad suffered a surprising defeat to the ASEAN All-Stars in Malaysia.

Despite the disappointing 1-0 loss at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium, fans found a bright spot in what was otherwise a night to forget: the emergence of 19-year-old midfielder Sekou Kone.

The match took place in front of a packed crowd at the 84,000-capacity stadium and served as the kickoff to United’s highly anticipated off-season tour across Asia.

Spanning stops in Kuala Lumpur and Hong Kong, the tour is projected to generate roughly £8 million for the club—an important sum that could help Manchester United stay compliant with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability regulations.

Amorim selected a 32-man squad for the trip, blending experienced first-team players with promising youth academy prospects.

Young talents such as Tyler Fletcher, Jim Thwaites, Jack Moorhouse, and Shea Lacey all made the journey, but it was Malian defensive midfielder Sekou Kone who truly stole the spotlight.

Making his first senior appearance since arriving at United last August in a deal worth approximately £1 million plus add-ons, Kone demonstrated composure, excellent vision, and remarkable ball control throughout the match.

Despite reports suggesting that Kone may soon be loaned out to Swiss side FC Lausanne-Sport—a club also owned by INEOS—United fans are calling for a change of plans.

Many believe he has already proven his worth and should stay with the first team at Old Trafford.

Social media was buzzing with praise for the youngster, with supporters describing him as “a superstar in the making.”

One fan urged the club to scrap any loan plans, calling Kone “quality” and insisting he could be the midfield solution United have been seeking.

Another applauded the club’s scouting team for discovering such a hidden gem, while others were quick to label him a “baller” and predicted a bright future.

Even though United failed to come away with a win—falling behind to a well-taken goal by Myanmar captain Maung Maung Lwin in the 71st minute—Kone’s performance has already left a lasting impression.

As United continue their tour, calls for Kone’s inclusion in the senior squad are growing louder, and fans are hopeful that Amorim sees the potential they witnessed on the pitch.
