A reigning champion from one of Europe’s top football leagues is reportedly eyeing a significant signing from Chelsea, with winger Noni Madueke emerging as a top summer target.
Throughout the 2024/25 season, Chelsea’s new manager Enzo Maresca has relied heavily on dynamic attacking options like Cole Palmer, Pedro Neto, and Noni Madueke to provide creativity and attacking impetus.
Among them, Madueke stood out for his direct style and flair, earning widespread praise for his performances. His impact was so notable that former Chelsea player Jason Cundy drew comparisons between Madueke and Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka — a clear nod to the winger’s quality and potential.
Now, it appears that Madueke’s impressive form hasn’t gone unnoticed on the European stage. Italian Serie A giants Napoli have reportedly developed a keen interest in the England international and could make a serious move to sign him in the current transfer window.
According to reports from Napoli Network, Napoli’s sporting director Giovanni Manna recently flew to London to explore the feasibility of bringing Madueke to Naples.
During his visit, Manna reportedly held meetings with intermediaries to gauge the financial aspects of a possible deal. Chelsea are understood to have placed a valuation of £50 million on the 23-year-old — a significant increase from the approximately £29 million they paid to sign him from PSV Eindhoven in January 2023.
While Newcastle United have also expressed interest in acquiring Madueke, Napoli’s proactive approach and recent travel suggest they are strongly considering making a formal offer. Their involvement could intensify the competition for the winger’s signature over the coming weeks.
Despite Madueke scoring 11 goals across 41 appearances this past campaign, Chelsea are said to be open to parting ways with the player. Internal discussions reportedly reflect a belief that Madueke’s development may have plateaued, and that now might be the right time to cash in, especially as the club looks to revamp its attacking options.
Complicating matters is Chelsea’s current shortage of wide attackers. Mykhailo Mudryk remains unavailable due to suspension, and Jadon Sancho has returned to Manchester United following the end of his loan.
Despite this, Chelsea are preparing for new arrivals. One such addition will be Brazilian wonderkid Estevão Willian, who is expected to join up with the senior squad soon. Further reinforcements in attacking positions are anticipated.
Should Napoli meet Chelsea’s valuation, a deal could be finalized swiftly. With several weeks still remaining in the summer transfer window, Madueke’s future at Stamford Bridge is set to be one of the major stories to watch.
