According to a fresh report from Spanish outlet Fichajes, Manchester United have now opened negotiations with Aston Villa to sign World Cup-winning goalkeeper Emiliano “Dibu” Martínez.
The Argentine star, who helped his country lift the World Cup in 2022 and has two Copa América titles to his name, is being eyed as a potential replacement for current United No.1 André Onana.
Since arriving at Old Trafford from Inter Milan in a big-money move a couple of seasons ago, Onana has struggled to live up to expectations.
His debut season was plagued by costly errors, and though there were hopes he would bounce back in the following campaign, his performances between the sticks remained inconsistent.
