£102M DEAL COMPLETED Manchester United finally completes first summer signing as 29-goal striker joins on six-year deal!

Brighton & Hove Albion defender Pervis Estupiñán is eager to secure a move to Manchester United this summer and has instructed his representatives to begin negotiating his departure from Brighton, according to journalist Sebastien Vidal.

Following a disastrous 2024/25 season—where United finished 15th in the Premier League and lost the Europa League final—manager Ruben Amorim is looking to rebuild his squad ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, which will see them without European football.

The club’s focus so far has been strengthening the attack, highlighted by the signing of Matheus Cunha and a pursuit of Bryan Mbeumo.

However, strengthening the wing-back position has now become a topic of discussion after Estupiñán’s clear interest in making the switch to Old Trafford.

Estupiñán, an Ecuador international, has reportedly told his agents to push for a move to Manchester United and to begin working on an exit strategy from Brighton.

The 27-year-old, who has been described as a “phenomenal” talent, is determined to join Ruben Amorim’s project this summer if the opportunity arises.

United had previously addressed their wing-back depth in January by signing Patrick Dorgu from Lecce, but there are still suggestions they could be open to adding further quality in that position.

Although the club has long admired Estupiñán and have kept tabs on him, reports suggest he is not considered a priority target for the current window, which may complicate the likelihood of a transfer.

Currently, Manchester United also have several players capable of covering the wing-back roles, including Luke Shaw, Diogo Dalot, Harry Amass, and the newly signed Paraguayan youngster Diego León, who will initially start in the academy.

According to multiple reports—including Fichajes, United Stand, TheHardTackle, and CaughtOffside—United have expressed interest in Estupiñán and made recent enquiries.

Despite this, some fans are questioning the need for another left wing-back given the depth already in place.

Brighton reportedly value Estupiñán between €40–45 million (£38 million), meaning United may need to meet that figure to enter serious negotiations.

In addition, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, and AC Milan are all believed to be monitoring the player, which could create a bidding war.

Estupiñán would tactically fit into Amorim’s wing-back system thanks to his pace, defensive intelligence, stamina, and excellent crossing ability.

However, given United’s current depth in the position, the decision to pursue this signing will ultimately depend on squad priorities and budget allocation.
