Man United confirms DOUBLE transfer signing as SUPERSTAR joins on 5-year deal

Manchester United are actively working in the transfer market, and fresh reports suggest that talks are now underway with Aston Villa regarding a move for their goalkeeper, Emiliano Martínez, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes.

It is no secret that United’s current goalkeeper, Andre Onana, has struggled since his arrival at Old Trafford from Inter Milan a couple of years ago.

Despite a hefty transfer fee, Onana’s debut season was full of errors and inconsistency.

Many United supporters had hoped he would improve in the following campaign, but last season was no better — Onana remained shaky, and United’s defensive issues persisted throughout the year.

Now, United’s management is seriously considering replacing Onana and has identified Martínez as a key target. Negotiations between United and Aston Villa are reportedly underway.

Villa, for their part, are said to be open to letting Martínez leave for a fee in the region of £40 million.

The player himself is reportedly interested in a potential move to Old Trafford.

One of the reasons Aston Villa may be willing to sell Martínez is financial. The club is facing pressure from PSR (Profit and Sustainability Rules), after failing to qualify for the Champions League.

To balance their books, they may be forced to offload a few of their high-value stars.

In addition to Martínez, players like Morgan Rogers and Ollie Watkins are also being linked with possible exits.

Martínez’s credentials are well known. The Argentine has played a key role in helping his national team win the 2022 World Cup, as well as two Copa America titles.

He is widely regarded as one of the top goalkeepers in the world and has a reputation as a reliable penalty stopper.

However, while he has been outstanding for Argentina, his performances for Aston Villa have sometimes been less consistent.

He has been known to make the occasional error, and at 33 years old this year, spending £40 million on him may not be the smartest move long-term.

That said, Manchester United do need to sign a new goalkeeper. Whether Martínez is ultimately the right choice remains to be seen.

Ruben Amorim and his staff will now decide if they want to push ahead and complete this deal to shore up the team’s last line of defence.

Meanwhile, to clear up confusion about other transfer rumours:

There is currently no official confirmation that Jonathan David has signed for Manchester United.

Despite recent online headlines claiming that “£110M superstar Jonathan David is in London for a medical,” these claims are false. The actual situation is very different:

David is out of contract with Lille this summer and is on the market.

Juventus have already made an offer and are currently leading the race for his signature, with the player reportedly taking until mid-July to make his decision.

Manchester United do hold interest but have not yet submitted an official offer.

Claims of a £110 million price tag are highly inaccurate — David would more likely move for around £25–40 million.

No reliable reports suggest David is in London for a United medical at this time.

The rumour likely spread because Jonathan David is exactly the type of signing INEOS want: young, hard-working, goal-scoring — a player who fits their long-term strategy.
