After recently finalizing the signing of Brazilian forward Matheus Cunha, Manchester United are now shifting focus towards securing Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo as their next attacking addition.
United have been pursuing Mbeumo for several weeks, believing he could be a key part of new manager Ruben Amorim’s system at Old Trafford. Despite ongoing interest, negotiations with Brentford remain stalled.
It is understood that Mbeumo himself is open to the move and excited by the opportunity to work under Amorim, but progress has been slow, and no agreement has yet been reached between the two clubs.
Amorim sees Mbeumo playing in a creative role just behind the central striker — a position where his versatility and attacking flair could shine.
This would also allow Matheus Cunha, who was recently brought in from Wolves, to operate more naturally on the left wing, forming a dynamic attacking trio.
However, without an agreement in place, there is now concern that other clubs — particularly Tottenham — could step in and hijack the deal.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United have not submitted a new bid since their first offer was rejected more than a week ago. Romano explained:
“Talks are still ongoing. We’re waiting to see if United will return with a new proposal after their previous bid was turned down.”
While United remain interested, they are also looking at alternative options to bolster their attack.
Reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport suggest that United have revived their interest in Fiorentina striker Moise Kean.
The Italian forward, who had previously been linked with a move to the Premier League, is now back on United’s radar.
His current release clause of £45 million, valid between July 1 and 15, makes him an affordable target.
Kean enjoyed an impressive season at Fiorentina, scoring 25 goals in 44 matches, and appears to have matured as a player after a difficult spell with Everton earlier in his career.
At 25, Kean has refined his game, particularly in tight attacking spaces and transitional play — qualities that would suit Amorim’s style.
However, to truly thrive at United, Kean would likely need regular starting opportunities, which could depend on the future of current forward Rasmus Højlund.
With negotiations for Mbeumo still dragging on, many believe that United should not restrict themselves to a single target.
Pursuing both Mbeumo and Kean could provide Amorim with the depth and flexibility he needs in attack as the club prepares for the new season.
