BREAKING: Renowned Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano reports that Jadon Sancho, who has failed to make a significant impact at Manchester United, is now on the verge of undergoing a medical with his potential new club

Jadon Sancho looks set to depart Manchester United on a permanent basis after a turbulent spell at Old Trafford.

The English winger has been out of favour since a public fallout with manager Erik ten Hag towards the end of 2023. In an effort to revive his career, Sancho was loaned out to his former club, Borussia Dortmund, during the January transfer window.

While he showed flashes of his quality—especially in Champions League matches—Dortmund ultimately chose not to sign him permanently.

Following that, Manchester United struck a loan agreement with Chelsea that included a clause obligating the London club to make the move permanent.

However, the deal contained a release condition allowing Chelsea to back out, which they did after Sancho refused to take a pay cut. His hefty wages, a major sticking point since his £73 million arrival in 2021, have made him a difficult player to move, with several clubs unwilling to take on such a financial burden.

Despite these complications, Juventus have emerged as serious contenders to secure Sancho’s signature. Reports from Italian journalist Marco Giordano suggest that Emeka Obasi, Sancho’s representative, is currently in Turin working to finalise the deal.

The proposed transfer fee is believed to be in the region of €15 million. To help smooth the process, Manchester United are even said to be offering Sancho a severance package, essentially paying him a portion of what he’s owed to encourage him to accept the move and reduce his salary demands.

The transfer appears to be nearing completion, with a medical examination expected to take place before the end of the week. Should the deal go through, it would not only end Sancho’s underwhelming tenure at Manchester United but also provide a much-needed financial boost to the club as they continue their squad rebuild.

United’s new leadership team, led by Ineos, has so far made only one signing this summer—activating the release clause of Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The club is also reportedly targeting Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo, but talks have been complicated by Brentford’s high asking price. Given the tight budget constraints, United may be forced to sell high-value players such as Sancho, Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, or Antony to raise funds.

These potential sales would help new manager Rúben Amorim strengthen the squad and reshape the team for the upcoming season.
