“Louis Saha Vibes”: Manchester United Line Up Double Attack With Jackson & Mbeumo

Manchester United appear to be ramping up their transfer activity this summer with serious intent, as the club turns its attention to two highly-rated attacking talents — Bryan Mbeumo and Nicolas Jackson.

The move signals a clear desire from new manager Ruben Amorim to revitalize the Red Devils’ attacking line and possibly recreate the kind of all-round threat Louis Saha once provided at Old Trafford.

Louis Saha, a fan-favorite during his time at United, featured in 124 games across four-and-a-half years, netting 42 goals and contributing 15 assists.

Despite injury setbacks throughout his stint, his movement, power, and presence made him a consistent danger to opposition defenses — even if he wasn’t the most prolific scorer.

His ability to disrupt defenders off the ball drew admiration from former rivals, including Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher. Amorim could now find a modern version of that profile in Nicolas Jackson.

As part of their ongoing summer rebuild, Manchester United have made Bryan Mbeumo one of their top transfer targets.

Talks have reportedly been long and drawn out, but the club recently submitted a third offer worth £65 million, with an additional £5 million in potential add-ons.

Mbeumo, who had a breakout season with 20 goals in the 2024/25 campaign, would bring proven Premier League pedigree to a squad that struggled for goals last term — scoring only 44 in 38 league matches.

Meanwhile, the club is also considering a move for Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson. According to journalist Ben Jacobs, discussions have taken place between United decision-makers and representatives of the player.

Jackson, who scored 13 goals across all competitions last season, is seen as a powerful, mobile forward who could form a lethal partnership with Mbeumo.

Jackson’s all-round game is what has fans and pundits drawing comparisons to Saha.

Though not the most clinical — with 24 league goals in the last two seasons — his dynamic movement and knack for getting behind defenders make him a serious threat.

He averages 6.2 touches in the opposition box per 90, 1.4 shots on target, and 1.2 dribbles per match, suggesting he could thrive in United’s current 3-4-2-1 system.

Former United defender Rio Ferdinand has even said Jackson gives him “Louis Saha vibes.”

With Theo Walcott also praising Jackson’s attacking instincts, United could be getting a well-rounded striker who complements Mbeumo’s delivery and finishing.

Jackson creates 1.2 chances per 90 minutes — meaning he could assist just as much as he finishes.

Although Chelsea have previously quoted a £100m valuation, United are expected to negotiate a more realistic fee if they are to make this exciting double swoop a reality.
