Erik ten Hag, who previously managed Manchester United, is currently taking a break following his dismissal from Old Trafford. It has now been a week since Manchester United decided to part ways with him. While the club has swiftly moved forward by appointing Ruben Amorim as the new manager, Ten Hag is reportedly taking more time to consider his next career step.

The Dutch manager has returned to the Netherlands, where he was recently spotted over the weekend at an Eredivisie match between Heracles and NAC Breda. This public appearance has sparked interest as he takes a moment to pause and reassess his future after his turbulent exit from the Premier League.

Ten Hag’s departure came as Manchester United found themselves in a difficult situation, sitting 14th in the Premier League standings and struggling in their Europa League campaign with no victories after three matches. These underwhelming performances ultimately led to the decision to relieve him of his duties as the club’s manager.

Before his tenure at Manchester United, Ten Hag had notable success managing in the Dutch football scene. He made significant strides at Utrecht and then at Ajax, where he built a reputation as an accomplished and forward-thinking coach. His managerial achievements at Ajax, especially leading the team to domestic titles and an impressive run in the UEFA Champions League, earned him widespread recognition and ultimately paved the way for his move to Old Trafford.

Dutch journalist Tijmen van Wissing has provided insight into what might be next for Ten Hag. According to van Wissing, there is speculation that Ten Hag could eventually take up a role at Ajax’s traditional rivals, PSV Eindhoven. This possible move comes as Peter Bosz, the current PSV manager, may explore other opportunities in the future, opening the door for Ten Hag to step in.

Reports from FC Update suggest that Ten Hag could have one or two more significant managerial stints in Europe. Van Wissing expressed confidence in Ten Hag’s ability to take on future challenges, predicting that he has two or three more major roles ahead in his coaching career.

The idea of him returning to Dutch football, particularly with a club like PSV, adds an interesting layer to his potential path forward.

Despite his recent setback at Manchester United, there is strong belief in Ten Hag’s capabilities as a manager. His tactical acumen and success in the Eredivisie suggest that he could bounce back and make an impact in another European league or even at a top club in the Netherlands.

Only time will tell where Ten Hag’s career takes him next, but his name is likely to remain prominent in discussions surrounding managerial positions across Europe.
