A shocking report suggests that Marcus Rashford has requested a transfer from Manchester United during the January window, with three potential destinations being discussed, including a Premier League rival.
The 26-year-old forward has struggled for form since last season, recording only eight goals and four assists in his last 41 Premier League games.
This is a significant drop from his standout 2022/23 campaign, where he managed 17 goals and five assists in the league.
The Spanish outlet Nacional claims that Rashford’s poor performances are linked to dissatisfaction with Manchester United’s lack of a “stable or ambitious project.”
Frustrated by the club’s direction, Rashford has reportedly instructed his agent to secure a move away from Old Trafford as early as January.
The report identifies Aston Villa, Napoli, and Marseille as potential destinations for Rashford.
While a move to Aston Villa would be unexpected, the Midlands club has been revitalized under manager Unai Emery.
Villa is currently making waves in European football, leading the redesigned Champions League format and solidifying themselves as a competitive force.
Napoli is believed to be the frontrunner for Rashford’s signature.
The Serie A leaders, managed by Antonio Conte, could provide him with an opportunity to compete for league titles.
Additionally, a move to Naples would reunite Rashford with former Manchester United teammates Scott McTominay and Romelu Lukaku, who are thriving under Conte’s guidance.
Marseille, however, appears to be the least likely option due to financial challenges that might prevent the French club from meeting Manchester United’s valuation of Rashford.
Nonetheless, Marseille could appeal to the player due to the presence of Mason Greenwood, another former United winger who recently joined the club.
While the authenticity of this report remains uncertain, TEAMtalk journalist Fraser Gillan has confirmed that a Rashford exit is plausible, either in January or during the summer of 2025.
Meanwhile, heavyweight clubs like PSG and Bayern Munich are also rumored to be monitoring the situation closely, should Rashford become available.
Despite these reports, Manchester United has yet to signal any intention of allowing the forward to leave mid-season.
In other transfer news, Manchester United is reportedly looking to rival Real Madrid in the pursuit of Alphonso Davies, who is nearing the end of his contract.
Additionally, the club is considering a January loan move for Antony, with a return to Ajax being a possibility.
United is also scouting teenage forward Geovany Quenda from Sporting CP, as they continue to target emerging talent.
