Manchester City is currently in the loop about a potential contract to secure the services of Joshua Kimmich, the talented midfielder from Bayern Munich. The interest in Kimmich has been disclosed, and Manchester City journalist Sam Lee, associated with The Athletic, has shared insights into the club’s considerations regarding a prospective trade.

As Manchester City explores the possibility of signing Joshua Kimmich, they are aware of the challenging nature of securing the Germany international from Bayern Munich this summer. Despite some mild pessimism creeping into the prospects of a deal, Txiki Begiristain, the Director of Football at Manchester City, remains actively engaged in finding ways to finalize the signing, especially as the club aims to fill the void left by Kalvin Phillips.

A key factor in this potential deal is the remaining duration on Kimmich’s contract with Bayern Munich. As reported by the Daily Star, Kimmich will have only 12 months left on his contract at the end of the season, potentially reducing his market value to around £25 million. This contractual situation adds an interesting dimension to the negotiations between the two clubs.

According to the Daily Star, the 28-year-old midfielder is reportedly eager to reunite with Pep Guardiola, his former coach at Bayern Munich. Kimmich has made significant contributions to Bayern Munich in the current season, featuring in 23 appearances across all competitions, scoring once, and providing six assists.

Kimmich’s expressed desire to work with Guardiola again dates back to 2019 when reports surfaced about Guardiola potentially returning to Bayern Munich. In a statement quoted by Sky Sports, Kimmich expressed gratitude towards Guardiola for promoting him from the second division to the Bundesliga, achieving domestic success together, and ultimately making a significant impact on his career.

The German playmaker’s history with Guardiola includes 36 games played under the Spaniard’s management, contributing to Bayern Munich’s triumph in the Bundesliga and the DFB-Pokal.

As the anticipation builds around a potential reunion, there is hope that Kimmich and Guardiola can reconnect at Manchester City this summer. The ongoing developments in this transfer pursuit add intrigue to Manchester City’s ambitions for the upcoming season, with the prospect of Kimmich bringing his skill and experience to the Premier League.
