BREAKING: The Premier League has released an official statement addressing the disallowed goal by Bukayo Saka during Arsenal’s match against Fulham

The Premier League’s Match Centre has provided clarity on key officiating decisions during Arsenal’s 1-1 draw with Fulham, including the controversy surrounding William Saliba’s equalizer and Bukayo Saka’s disallowed late goal.

The game, played at the Emirates Stadium, was marked by moments of contention and a shared sense of frustration for Arsenal fans as their team dropped two valuable points.

William Saliba scored Arsenal’s equalizer early in the second half, converting a close-range attempt after Kai Havertz’s initial effort.

Fulham’s players immediately protested, claiming that Saliba was in an offside position.

However, VAR quickly reviewed the incident and determined that Antonee Robinson, Fulham’s defender, had narrowly played Saliba onside, allowing the goal to stand.

The Premier League later issued a statement confirming the decision, saying, “The referee’s call to award the goal was reviewed and upheld by the Video Assistant Referee, as Saliba was deemed onside.”

Fulham had taken an early lead through Raul Jimenez, who capitalized on a momentary lapse in Arsenal’s defense.

Despite dominating possession throughout the match, Mikel Arteta’s side struggled to break down Fulham’s organized backline and missed several key opportunities to secure all three points.

The game ended in a 1-1 draw, leaving Arsenal to reflect on missed chances and their inability to capitalize on their dominance.

The result has significant implications for the Premier League standings.

Arsenal now sits six points behind league leaders Liverpool, who did not play this weekend after their Merseyside derby against Everton was postponed.

The draw also allowed Chelsea to leapfrog Arsenal in the table following their win over Tottenham Hotspur.

Meanwhile, defending champions Manchester City, who are just two points behind Arsenal, also dropped points in a 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace.

Pep Guardiola, City’s manager, admitted that his squad is facing increasing challenges this season, as the league’s competitive landscape intensifies.

For Arsenal, the draw has raised questions about their ability to maintain a sustained title challenge.

With crucial fixtures on the horizon, the Gunners must address their inability to convert dominance into victories if they are to close the gap on Liverpool and fend off competition from other top sides.

The game against Fulham underscores the importance of consistency and efficiency, particularly as the race for the Premier League title heats up.
